Burrrrrr! Homemade chicken soup sounds good!

October 14th, 2007

It has been so hot all summer and now we have a few cold days and I am ready for some hot food.  One of my favorites is just homemade chicken soup.  Very easy to make and it sure cures what ails ya!

To make is easy, I begin with some chicken.  Any kind will do.  I boil it until done and peel from the bone if there are any.  I add canned chicken broth to the water left from boiling the chicken.  I usually use 3 or 4 cans.  I chop up severl stalks of celery into small pieces and put in the broth and let simmer for about 10 minutes.  You can add any other vegetables that you like in soup also.  I just don’t care for a bunch of veggies in my soup.  I then add a can or two of mushroom stems and pieces and put in the cooked chicken.  Let that all heat to boiling and then add your favorite noodles.  You can really get creative here and use any noodles that you like.  I personally like either the really skinny ones or stars or the frozen noodles in the frozen food section of the grocery store.  Cook until the noodles are done.  Add salt and pepper to taste, but the secred to a good chicken soup is a lot of pepper.  Let that simmer for a while and you are done.

People generally make fun of me when I eat my soup because I like to serve it up with peanut butter sandwiches.  I dunk them into the soup.  Try it, you will like it.

Chicken wraps are a great quick lunch or even dinner

October 13th, 2007

A chicken wrap is a great quick meal.  You can serve them up hot or cold.  One variation is to take a tortilla and lay it flat, put a piece of lettuce on it then spread with mayonnaise or salad dressing.  Add a thinly sliced red onion and add any other vegetables that you like such as green peppers, chilis, celery or any type of vegetable that you like.  Roll it up and there you have it.  It may be simple, but it is good.

We will be adding more recipes soon so come back and enjoy.

The Recipe Blog has been down

August 28th, 2007

Due to unforseen circumstances, The Recipe Blog has been down.  I am very sorry that this happened and at this point, I am having a little trouble getting my backup to actually back up.  That’s the trouble with not knowing enough about this stuff.  At any rate, bear with me and we will be back and running soon.
